Savoury Cheddar Velvet

This velvety smooth spread has wonderful aged Cheddar bite with a fragrance of orange and spice.  Serve with hearty crackers and ripened fruit.  Beautifully compliment’s our Oh So Very Cranberry chutney.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb. orange old Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 pg. (250 g) cream cheese
  • ½ cup creamy butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. grated orange rind
  • 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • ¼ tsp. ground nutmeg
Directions:
  1. In a food processor, blend together Cheddar cheese, cream cheese and butter until combined.  Add orange rind and juice, mustard, nutmeg and blend just until thick and creamy.
  2. Spoon into serving dish and stretch plastic wrap around dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or until chilled and fir.  (cheese spread can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.)
  3. To serve, peel of plastic wrap and let stand for 30 minutes.
